Do you ever wonder if you’re in need of Cosmetic Dentistry? At Agoura Dental Group, we use the latest technology to show our patients what Cosmetic Dentistry can do for them. A recent patient thought she was in no need of complete dental work, even after multiple X-rays and check-ups with her hygienist. This patient assumed her teeth were in top condition, until our doctor took a deeper look, revealing cavities between nearly every tooth. The patient was unpleasantly surprised, but all her cavities were quickly taken care of. After her visit, this patient will now keep in mind the importance of flossing every day! It’s always easy to take a minute to floss, whether on summer vacation or on a work schedule. If you’re in need of floss, anyone can quickly stop by the Agoura Dental Group office to grab a flossing container. Even if you think your teeth are in great condition, you might be surprised after a visit to Agoura Dental! Check out these pictures to see the Doctor’s point of view.

Dr. Aaron Choroomi, our main dentist at Agoura Dental Group, makes it a priority to uphold our high dental care and patient accommodation standards. After graduating from UOP Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, the second best dental school in the United States, Dr. Choroomi set out to establish his own dental practice with the knowledge and skills he acquired from UOP. In June of 2007, Dr. Choroomi opened up his very first dental practice, Agoura Dental. For nearly ten years, Dr. Aaron Choroomi acquainted himself with the community, and established a name for himself in the cities of Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Oak Park, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, and Malibu. In January of 2016, he decided to renew the office and open up the new location, just a couple of minutes away from the original Agoura Dental.

Dr. Choroomi specializes in implant and cosmetic dentistry, although he obtains a passion for all types of dental care. He strives to provide each and every one of his patients with the most natural and beautiful smiles, so he keeps treatments as conservative as possible and works in a holistic environment. Although it may take longer, the results are much more natural and elegant. As one of the most accomplished and highly regarded dentists in the Conejo and San Fernando valleys, he is extremely gentle and brings you the most comfortable dental experience possible. What sets apart Dr. Choroomi from all of the other local implant and cosmetics dentist is his devotion to the care of our patients. Dr. Choroomi uses the finest, most state-of-the-art dental sequipment around. Additionally, he practices safe amalgam removal, adding to the serene and holistic environment. Using a mercury-free procedure with high suction devices ensures that the patient receives the most safe and comfortable amalgam removal.

In honor of the commencement of our new location on 5809 Kanan Rd, the Agoura Dental Group team threw an awesome Grand Opening Event! Our goal with the event was to exhibit the new office and give our guests an opportunity to see what Agoura Dental Group was all about. From the live orchestra to the professional photographers, the event was wildly successful.

Among our guests were loyal and existing patients, as well as fresh and excited patients! We offered a plethora of delicious foods, from salmon skewers to burgers to shrimp tacos, to cupcakes and chocolate mousse. Not only was the cuisine a hit with the guests, but they particularly enjoyed our open bar and champagne.

As photographers snapped photos of our guests on our very own Agoura Dental Group red carpet which would later be turned into take-home magnets, everyone was given an opportunity to get a feel of our new office. Patients were even able to have the chance to take before-and-after pictures with our Smileography technology.

We aim to give our office a clean, contemporary, state-of-the-art look with a very comfortable, homey vibe. Not only was our event a time where we could strengthen the patient-staff relationship, but also a place where new friendships were formed and memories were made.

How Yellow Teeth Can be Treated

Yellow teeth are among the most common cosmetic issues, but they also respond to a variety of treatments. The best option for restoring whiteness to a smile can depend on the source and severity of stains involved. Here is a look at home and office treatments for yellow teeth.

Yellow Teeth Treatment at Home

Home treatments for yellow teeth can be divided into oral hygiene practices and store-bought whitening products. Brushing and flossing are both effective at reducing the likelihood of stains, and brushing can actually reduce or eliminate mild existing stains. Brushing can be particularly effective when it is performed with whitening toothpastes, but these products should only be used occasionally as frequent use can cause damage. For heavier stains, patients may benefit from whitening strips, gums or mouth trays. Still, these options can take weeks or months to work.

Office Treatments for Yellow Teeth

Two types of professional treatments can be used for yellow teeth: those that bleach and those that conceal. Professional teeth whitening uses peroxide gel to bleach stains away. Unlike home whitening kits, office whitening delivers greater results in one appointment lasting just an hour. Furthermore, it is safer thanks to customized protective barriers and professional care.

Veneers and crowns are tooth-colored shells that are bonded to teeth and conceal stains. Whereas veneers cover the fronts of teeth, crowns cover teeth on all sides. These options may be preferable for the heaviest stains and stains that originate inside of teeth, such as those resulting from cavities and excessive fluoride exposure. Both veneers and crowns are permanent as well as resistant to stains in the future.

Teeth can become yellow for many reasons, including diet, aging, smoking and heredity. Fortunately, patients have a variety of options for eliminating these flaws from their smile. Patients can schedule a consultation with our tooth whitening dentist in Agoura Hills to learn more about options for treating yellow teeth.

Are Braces Better or Invisalign?

Metal braces and Invisalign are both popular options for straightening teeth, and both have unique benefits. Even as invisible orthodontics have become more common, metal orthodontics have remained important for several reasons. Here is a look at how these treatments compare to each other and what patients should consider as they choose between them.

Versatility

Metal orthodontics beat invisible ones in terms of versatility. Clear orthodontics cannot correct certain bite problems, but metal orthodontics can address virtually all issues involving the teeth rather than the jaws.

Aesthetics

Invisible orthodontics are easily superior to metal orthodontics as far as appearance is concerned. While clear aligners are hardly visible, metal brackets and wires can stand out to onlookers.

Comfort

Clear aligners are more comfortable than metal brackets and wires. The aligners do not cause inner cheek abrasion, which can occur with metal orthodontics.

Treatment Time

Metal orthodontics commonly take about two years to correct the teeth. By contrast, clear orthodontics work in an average of 15 months.

Affordability

The cost of metal orthodontics tends to be lower than that of invisible orthodontics. However, actual costs of both treatments depend on the number and types of bite irregularities involved.

Candidacy

Patients of all ages may be candidates for metal orthodontics. While clear aligners were once only available for adults and some older adolescents, a newer version of the treatment has made aligners an option for younger teens as well.

Understanding each of these orthodontic approaches is valuable for patients considering their options. For every patient, however, an exam is necessary to determine whether invisible or metal orthodontics will be possible. In some cases, patients may also require an additional treatment to resolve special orthodontic issues. Patients can schedule a consultation with our orthodontist to learn more about these treatments, their advantages and their candidacy requirements.
